Conditions worth reading twice
Open to current U.S. high school seniors (or the equivalent) who are U.S. citizens as of the date of application (permanent legal residents do not qualify); high school graduates are ineligible. Applicants must plan to enroll full-time (minimum 12 semester hours) in a four-year undergraduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university. No Elks membership or family relationship to a member is required. No minimum or maximum family income is required ("There is not a minimum income required in order to apply nor is there a maximum income we would not consider"), though financial need is one of three scored criteria (scholarship, leadership, financial need) alongside academics/leadership/community involvement. ACT/SAT scores are explicitly waived/not required. Applicants judged and awarded within separate male and female competition brackets. No GPA minimum is published on the sponsor's site.
